1. How & Why Would I Use NotBoxHairColor To Service My Clients?

The connection with your client no longer stops when they leave your chair. Providing custom hair color for your clients to use at home will make you even more of a superhero. Your expertise is in a lot of things, including color formulation. So for those times when a client can't come into the salon, use Not Box Hair Color.

Here are some reasons your clients want you to provide them with NotBoxHairColor to use at home, in between visits:

• Busy Life

Sometimes the clients can't come in as often as they like- don't worry, Not Box Hair Color has them covered, literally!

• Needs a Refresh

    2. What about the Liability?

Hairstylist formulated and mixed hair color is a professional service in our view, not a retail product. 

​

• Insurance suggests liability is lessened because “in salon” issues like trip and fall and other in person issues are not present for at-home applications.  All other liability remains the same. Warnings are included per FDA requirements including not to get color in eyes, and proper use.

• The FDA does not differentiate the service as an extension of the salon experience or other retail box color products and the packaging and labeling requirements will be the same for both. (The platform and packaging we supply ensures compliance by providing a means of attaching the ingredients label for the specific color used for the client, FDA compliant warnings and other packaging requirements)

• Manufacturer constraints- some color companies prohibit the reselling of their tubes of color- our machine allows hair color kits without reselling the manufacturers product (entire tubes of color) to the client. 

• State Licencing - to our knowledge no state licensing board has opined that the NotBoxHairColor service is offside any regulation or other standard.  In our own research, at least three states have confirmed it is entirely allowed.  Salons may contact the boards in their specific jurisdiction for further information.

    3. How is any of this sustainable or environmentally friendly

Rejoice!  By supplying your customer with NotBoxHairColor, mixed uniquely for them using your professional skills and high quality salon professional color, you are actually doing more for the environment than you realize.  

If your customer used Box Color instead, those packages are replete with single use plastics.  More than 40% of all plastics made are for use in packaging with the beauty industry producing over 120 billion units of packaging every year. Arguably, humans are conducting a singular uncontrolled experiment on a global scale in which billions of metric tons of material will accumulate across all major terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems on the planet.

With NotBoxHairColor packaging- supplied to salons for sale to the salon customer, is biodegradable and recyclable.  

• Our jars are glass- recycle or reuse them, or return to us. 

• Brushes are made of wood pulp and will biodegrade

• Gloves are biodegradable

• Towels are made of unwoven cotton or bamboo and will biodegrade.  And while we can only recommend using them once, we can attest than we know some folks who have used them many times

• The box is post consumer recycled material and guess what- it can be recycled again!

• The ink we use is from algae and is actually carbon negative- meaning we are giving back in a positive way and soaking up all that carbon.

• We also facilitate carbon offsets on activities like shipping.
